At Oakley Dental Practice we offer  a full range of NHS treatment. Unless you are in one of the groups mentioned below that are entitled to free NHS dental treatment or help with the cost, you will need to pay 80% of the cost of your NHS dental treatment up to a maximum of £384 per course of treatment. This is known as the patient fee that the patient pays.

Courses of treatment over £384 will need prior approval from the NHS before treatment can commence.

Please be aware that the NHS fee structure is complex and can vary considerably from patient to patient depending on what treatment is needed.

As of the 1st November 2023, the standard recall period between check up appointments is now 12 months or more, rather than 6 months. This means that for most patients you are entitled to 1 extensive examination (check up) per year. In some cases, shorter recall periods may be prescribed but this is based on oral health risk and is the decision of the dentist.

NHS treatment is free in Scotland for:

• Everyone aged under 26
• Pregnant women
• Nursing mothers with children under 12 months old
• Anyone with certificated exemption from payment because of income: 
• You or your partner receive Universal credit
• You or your partner receive Pension credit guaranteed credit
• You or your partner receive Income support, Income related Employment Support Allowance or Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
• You or your partner hold a current NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate
